Position Summary:

A Real Estate Paralegal assists attorneys in all phases of real estate transactions, including residential and commercial property transactions. This role involves performing legal research, drafting documents, coordinating closings, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of real estate law, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Document Preparation: Draft and review documents related to real estate transactions, such as purchase agreements, leases, title documents, deeds, and closing statements.

Due Diligence: Conduct research and investigations on property titles, zoning laws, and other regulatory matters affecting the property. Analyze title reports and prepare reports summarizing findings.

Transaction Coordination: Assist in the coordination and facilitation of real estate closings, including scheduling, preparing closing documents, and communicating with clients, title companies, lenders, and other parties involved.

Contract Management: Review and summarize contracts and agreements related to real estate transactions. Ensure that all terms and conditions are accurately met.

Title and Escrow Work: Assist in reviewing title insurance policies, resolve title issues, and work with escrow officers to ensure proper handling of escrow funds.

Client Communication: Act as a liaison between clients and attorneys, providing updates, collecting necessary documentation, and answering client questions within the scope of responsibilities.

Compliance and Legal Research: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws related to real estate transactions. Conduct legal research to support various stages of a real estate deal.

Filing and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized records and databases of all real estate transactions, filings, and correspondence. Prepare documents for filing with the appropriate county and state agencies.

Post-Closing Activities: Assist in post-closing tasks, such as recording deeds and mortgages, tracking deadlines for contingencies, and managing client correspondence.

Requirements:

Education: A paralegal certificate or associate degree in paralegal studies.

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a paralegal, preferably in real estate law. Familiarity with residential and commercial real estate transactions.

Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of real estate laws, property titles, and closing procedures. Understanding of title insurance, escrow, and financing terms.

Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools. Experience with real estate management software and document management systems.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and external parties.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in document preparation, contract review, and transaction management.

Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously with effective time management.
